Happy Christmas - Day 32

Happy Christmas everyone from KJB Pony Adventures.

What an amazing thirty two days it has been since owning Boston.

We got some lovely horsey pressies today and have loved spending time with family. The best part was my auntie, my horsey idol, visiting B.

Not only did she visit him, she liked him (she is quite hard to impress I think).

She mucked him out in record time - I could learn so much more from her. I value her opinion so much.

I hope you are enjoying the festivities as much as we are.

I rolled over bleary eyes to slam the alarm off at 6.30 this morning. It was the first day back at school, for both J and I. On this day it was B's day off and day in his stable - Limited turnout over winter to preserve the fields prevents him from being turned out every single day. During the spring/summer he will have daily turnout and even stay out over night occasionally. After finishing a fantastic and fun first day back after the holidays I prepared J for the worst. Good News! - Day 65

Finally a week we have been waiting for. The vet told us the great news that there were no abnormalities in Bostons blood test results. Yipee! However his symptoms have still been raising their ugly head. Sigh! My very knowledgeable friend (aka the guru) at the yard suggested that B could be eating the kernels in his straw bedding which would be difficult to digest and therefore causing him to purge - hence the watery and consistent diarrhoea. We decided to test this theory (luckily before the vet called) and low and behold B shoved his schnoz into that straw and was totally high and loving life as he munched his way through it. I asked the vet if this could be a cause for the reaction and he agreed it may be likely but not necessarily linked. I asked about changing his bedding to shavings - which I have ever wanted to do for several reasons. 1 - the expense, 2 - I've not had much experience mucking out shavings and the ones I have been like sawdust which I disliked,

I don't generally play the lottery, maybe purchase a scratch card once a year or something, so imagine my surprise when I received an email confirming that I had won a competition I entered on the off chance on facebook! Not just any competition. Oh no. Drum roll please.... I awoke this morning to this amazing email, after spending the last few days in bed with a sickness bug: Hi! We are pleased to advise that you have been selected from a random draw to win a pair of tickets to join our brand ambassador, World Champion eventer Ros Canter for a private Jump 4 Joy xc course walk on Thursday 2nd May at Badminton Horse Trials. A cross country course walk with non other than the amazing, best surname for a horse rider ever, Ros Canter!!!! I mean if I wasn't feeling so weak from being poorly I would be jumping for joy like the company who have organised this amazing opportunity for us.
