Funny faces - Day

There are a lot of funny pictures of our pets on popular social networks. I have managed to capture a few shots of B looking cute and funny.

This one in particular of him last week when I told him I had been poorly, well this was his reaction;

Good News! - Day 65

Finally a week we have been waiting for. The vet told us the great news that there were no abnormalities in Bostons blood test results. Yipee! However his symptoms have still been raising their ugly head. Sigh! My very knowledgeable friend (aka the guru) at the yard suggested that B could be eating the kernels in his straw bedding which would be difficult to digest and therefore causing him to purge - hence the watery and consistent diarrhoea. We decided to test this theory (luckily before the vet called) and low and behold B shoved his schnoz into that straw and was totally high and loving life as he munched his way through it. I asked the vet if this could be a cause for the reaction and he agreed it may be likely but not necessarily linked. I asked about changing his bedding to shavings - which I have ever wanted to do for several reasons. 1 - the expense, 2 - I've not had much experience mucking out shavings and the ones I have been like sawdust which I disliked, ...

Time of change - Day 115

I did it! I completed my CBT (cognitive behaviour therapy) course Whoop Whoop :-D It feels amazing to not only have completed something but also to know that I will probably always be anxious by nature (it's in my DNA) but with regular self-check-ins I will be perfectly ok to manage it. For I am now my very own therapist - hold the laughter please ;-) There has been a significant shift in my thought process of late which has not gone un-noticed by loved ones. I now see the glass as half full rather than half empty. No matter how many bumps life throws in the road ahead I will take my time and enjoy the journey with smaller manageable goals along the way. One of the biggest causes of my anxiety is when I worry too much about the future. Things that are literally out of my control. Things that may or may not happen but I add it to my day-to-day tasks which overwhelems me and then I let it consume me and take over the more immediate concerns. For example one of my bigges...

Tears and a Vet - Day 31

Today was horrendous! When I got to B stable and J already to ride we noticed that his rear end was running like a tap of brown murky water. B had a serious case of diarrhoea. This is not good for horses. His straw was completely wet. I asked for advice at the yard and it unanimous. We needed a vet. Through tears I called out as emergency the fantastic vets at the   RVC came to see B and could see the problem immediately. I dried my tears and helped the vet steady B as he tried to take his temperature. B didn't appreciate being prodded and poked. He reared and bucked. his adequately sized stable felt small and claustrophobic. I feared for the vet. I feared for me.
